My Story

Music has been my constant companion for as long as I can remember.  Growing up in a quiet country town on the West Coast, my house was always filled with music – my dad's Rock n Roll records spinning on the player and my mum's beautiful classical music flowing from the piano and violin.  I even remember as a toddler being a pro on my Playschool phone with its musical buttons smashing out killer nursery rhymes!  That early interest led to years of classical piano lessons and I loved writing my own songs and playing for anyone who'd listen.  Dad was convinced I was destined for the concert hall due to my ear for music! High school brought new musical adventures with guitar lessons and joining the choir, and I also studied choir conducting at teacher's college.  My clubbing days introduced me to the pure fun of karaoke at places like the Treehouse and Chancery Lane and I was thinking of ways to incorporate more music into my life and turn it into a career.  In my early 20s I landed an apprentice DJ gig in Christchurch CBD at places like The Loaded Hog and Legends Bar.   After taking a short break to start a family,  I jumped back into music as a singer and rhythm guitarist in a local rock covers band.  Then came an incredibly fun ten year stint with The Great Pretenders tribute band.   Our residency at Addington Raceway, along with performances at Cup Days, festivals, and corporate events, was a blast – I loved getting into costume and dancing and singing my heart out most weekends!  It was this rich and varied performance background and deep love of music that naturally brought me back to DJing in 2014, starting with karaoke nights and now focusing on bringing my musical energy to private functions  to create joyful, memorable moments for everyone.  My artistic spirit extends beyond DJing, encompassing musical theatre and eight years of dedication to 'Her Vibe Tribe', a hip hop dance group.   For me,  music isn't just a career – it's a lifelong passion for entertaining and and using my innate musical understanding to create unforgettable experiences... it is such a privilege to be able to connect with others through music!
